To make it look like we did nothing at all.

After shooting the Superior guest rooms – it was up to the top floors to shoot the Executive Suites at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel.

“The Executive Suites are spacious and contemporary, styled with our guests comfort in mind to ensure complete relaxation.”

Having already recced them back in April, it was this angle…
“One
.. that we had agreed on.

OUR THINKING: “Room 521 – This room as a feminine feel to it – so let’s play on that by adding personal items to suggest that she has just returned from a days shopping.
Nice big flower arrangement as pictured below.
A person in this room would work – clothes dark navy or beige trousers and light long sleeved shirt or light sweater.

Smart casual.”

So with the camera in pretty much the same spot…
“One
.. we when from that to this…
“One
.. after Claudio and Ivan here…
“Behind
.. lit it up, both inside…
“Behind
.. and out…
“Behind
.. while Dianne sat and read a magazine…
“Behind
.. I made some suggestions…
“Behind
.. and took a picture every now and then…
“One
.. because as you can now see on their website…
“Screen
.. we do actually work very hard, to make it look like we did nothing at all wink

The last one was this one…
“One
.. which again was on the top floor.

OUR THINKING: Room 519 – Personal items to suggest a couple.
High tea for coffee table.
1 member of staff either at the window or at the bed.
2nd red strip for over the end of the bed.
Flower arrangement as below or something with a modern feel.

So with the camera in place, we went from this…
“One
.. to this…
“One
.. after the lights had been put up…
“Behind
.. and Claudio did a bit of modelling…
“One
.. which I wasn’t quite sure about…
“Behind
.. although showing off a bit of leg did help…
“Behind
.. after taking a selfie…
“Behind
.. as one naturally would – but we didn’t think any of those looked quite right…
“Behind
.. so sorry Claudio – because as you can see…
“Screen
.. they decided to run without you wink

And so that was it – time to pack…
“Behind
.. and rack…
“Behind
.. but not before the sun came out – so we made the most of that too – because like I said before: we do work very hard…
“Behind
.. to make it look like we do nothing at all smile

From Claudio, Dianne, Ivan & me – creating images to tell a story, about our wonderfully time during the shoot, at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel in Limerick.

Superior guest room.

One of the many bedrooms that Jack at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel wanted to show their guests, was this one…
“Original
.. which they called their Superior rooms.

“Superior guest rooms are light and airy while also offering our guests that extra touch of luxury.”

So that was next on our list, after we finished the Nelligan’s Bar shot.

Which was pretty easy to shoot…
“One
.. after Ivan put up a new picture…
“Behind
.. Dianne had sorted out the bedding …
“Behind
.. Claudio had lit it…
“Behind
.. the polishing was done…
“Behind
.. and I had press the button on this strange looking camera…
“Behind
.. which I have been using now for nearly 15 years smile

Just point & shoot – and this was the final result…
“Superior
.. which can now be seen on their website:
“Screen

Take two being the same room with only a single double-bed…
“One
.. which again just needed a few changes made…
“Behind
.. which didn’t take the team very long to sort out…
“One
.. bar trying to figure-out what to put on that far wall…
“One
.. so Dianne held up a different few things…
“One
.. which I took a quick picture of…
“One
.. before we made the final call…
“One
.. and so this was the final result…
“Superior
.. which once again you can now see on their website:
“Screen

So it was as simple as that – thanks to Ivan and Claudio here…
“Behind
.. as well as Dianne…
“Behind
.. who was already getting things ready for the last two shots – so more on those and what Claudio was doing here…
“Behind
.. to follow wink

Nelligan’s Bar

The 3rd and final shot in Nelligan’s Bar was the return angle.

OUR THINKING:

KL-0643 is our favourite angle – however, this angle does show the size and overall layout very well.

“Original
Would need bar staff and possibly a member of staff serving the people at the back dining area.

Which the following morning – after some serious work…
“Behind
.. the night before, to produce this image…
“Family
.. to show their Family Rooms or inter-connecting rooms…
“Inter-connecting
.. if you prefer – we set up to shoot:
“One

Lights up…
“Behind
.. and so the fun began…
“One
.. as bit…
“One
.. by bit…
“One
.. it all started to come together – as I stood and watched…
“Behind
.. the team working very hard…
“Behind
.. to complete the story we were trying to tell smile

Seriously though – once everyone arrived…
“One
.. it was all over in minutes, due to what all they had done.

Which then just left me to zoom in to let Jack’s Grandfather here…
“Behind
.. see how well he looked…
“Zoom
.. in this the final overall result…
“Screen
.. which you can now see on their website about Nelligan’s Bar.

Time for a coffee – as the big smiles on our faces says it all…
“Behind
.. because we were all totally delighted with this one…

.. before heading up to shoot the various bedrooms.

So more on all of that the follow – from Dianne, Claudio, Ivan & me at ampimage.com smile

July 22, 2017

It’s tables they want to see.

The 2nd shot in the bar that Jack was keen for us to capture, was this raised fireplace area…

.. which he was also wanting to promote.

Our Thinking:
“You mentioned you liked the Trump fireplace shot (see below) – so we will try to recreate something with a similar feel.”
“By

Which we talked about shooting here: The Clubhouse.

“Well now that you have talked the talk, Ashley…
“Behind
.. what are you planing on doing ?” – because it’s tables they want to see, rather than armchairs in front of a fire wink

Okay, TV down to start with…
“Behind
.. and I’ll try to find an angle…
“Behind
.. while Ivan, you workout how you are going to put a mirror up there…
“One
.. because how else am I going to explain this very romantic image of the two of you wink

So while I put the camera in it position…
“Behind
.. Ivan and Dianne started working on table setting…
“One
.. as well as the flowers…
“Behind
.. books…
“One
.. and everything else that was in front of the camera.
While Claudio (besides taking lots of great pictures of us all) worked on the lighting – as I tried to explain the look that I was after…
“Behind
.. before returning to take a few quick shots…
“Behind
.. which I reckoned was 99% there…
“One
.. bar fixing the hair…
“One
.. and there you have it…
“One
.. Capture-198262 looked good…
“Behind
.. which got the thumbs-ups from everyone…
“Behind
.. as it can now be seen on their Home page:
“Screen

So “Cheers” – from Claudio, Myself, Ivan & Dianne here…
“Behind
.. as it was time to make full use of the props smile

Dusk shot.

Back in April we also talked about shooting the front of the Hotel…
“Our
.. and it was agreed a dusk or night shot would work best.

So after the shot outside Nelligan’s bar we headed around to the front of the building…
“One
.. which had already be cleared of cars – and so it was a case of starting early…
“Behind
.. once I had found my spot…
“Behind
.. and Ivan had taken the Land Rover for a spin…
“Behind
.. as he reckon we may be shooting out of the back of it, if it started to rain again.

Because this is Ireland – were it rains 250 plus days a year – so the umbrella was up just in case…
“Behind
.. as the first of the images appeared on screen, the car arrived…
“One
.. while Claudio & Ivan set-up some lights…
“Behind
.. after which we then when ahead and shot the car and person in place…
“Behind
.. and then waited for the magical moment to happen – which as you can see here it did…
“One
.. about 15 minutes later – as day turned to night…
“Behind
.. which then only left the sign on top to light…
“Behind
.. and so this was then the final result…
“The
.. which one can now see on the Home page of the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel’s website
“Screen
.. along with the others images we took – or should I say created, as we do tend to do a little more than just turn up and take some pictures smile

So more on that to follow – from Dianne, Claudio, Ivan & me @ ampimage.com.

Outside Nelligan’s Bar.

The story behind the image which today you can see on the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel’s website…
“Screen
.. which a few months ago looked like this…
“Our
.. when we first called to see them about creating some images for them to use in their marketing & advertising material over the next few years.

So we talked the talked – but now it was time to walk the walk – as we stood out of the rain…
“Behind
.. knowing that I don’t get paid to make excuses wink

Anyway, the weather forecast said it was to be an okay evening – so with the camera in place…
“Behind
.. the first of the images appeared on screen…
“One
.. and the boys in their new uniforms when to work…
“Behind
.. while the flags were put up…
“One
.. and than another few test shots were taken…
“One
.. after it had been lit and a touch of warmth had been added…
“One
.. as I was looking for a late evening feel here.

Looking good in the new outfits guys…
“The
.. and yes what was in front of the camera was now starting to look pretty good too…
“One
.. as the first of our models arrived…
“Behind
.. the wall was damped down the wall…
“Behind
.. outfits were checked…
“One
.. but what’s up with the lighting Claudio…
“One
.. because that big boy isn’t firing…
“Behind
.. but as soon as it did, then I finally got to do what I do – which is to try and figure out how to take a picture with that ‘upie-downie’ thing…
“Behind
.. as well as put a smile on the client’s face…
“Behind
.. because instead of the image on screen looking like this…
“Original
.. it now looked like this…
“One
.. which when I’d finished looked like this…
“Outside
.. as it was a lovely late evening image that I was trying to create here after all wink

And so that’s the story behind this image that you can now see on the Home page of their website…
“Screen
.. along with the others images we took – or should I say created, as we do tend to do a little more than just turn up and take some pictures smile

So more on that to follow – from Dianne, Claudio, Ivan & me at ampimage.com

The John Jefferson Smurfit Room.

The John Jefferson Smurfit Room is located in the hotel itself which dates from 1832. The room boasts a magnificent Georgian stucco ceiling, complete with ornate plasterwork and a magnificent Waterford Crystal Chandelier. Beautiful sash windows allow views onto the manicured gardens and also allow plenty of natural daylight to flood into the space while the elegant marble fireplace adds a wonderful focal point to the room. Double doors lead out onto the Yeat’s Room which is home to a large collection of original Jack B. Yeat’s paintings and is often used as a tea/ coffee breakout area or as a pre-dinner drinks reception space. The John Jefferson Smurfit Room can be used for private dining, a board meeting or for a meeting or presentation.”

Which was the first room we looked when we went down to see Orla…
The John Jefferson Smurfit Room at the K Club in County Kildare.
.. a few months ago.

OUR THINKING: Late evening – shooting around 7:30pm, so need to be setting up around 6pm.
2 members of staff preparing the room.
Dinner party possible set for private birthday or small corporate dinner, so maybe if we keep flowers in low rise arrangements down the centre of the table.
White table clothes unless the table is really nice.
Fire lit.

So having agreed on that, just after arriving and have agreed at deal with Ivan here…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. Dianne noticed that they were already starting to set it up for us to shoot at the end of the 2nd day – so rather than just letting them get on with it, she got out the iron and when to work…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. which meant by the time I set up the camera and took the first picture here…
One of the last pictures taken in the John Jefferson Smurfit Room at the K Club in County Kildare.
.. it was already looking very good.

So while Claudio and Ivan worked on improving the lighting, Dianne worked on the place setting…
One of the pictures taken in the John Jefferson Smurfit Room at the K Club in County Kildare.
.. as she felt their should be a little bit more on the table.

Then Ivan lit the candles…
One of the pictures taken in the John Jefferson Smurfit Room at the K Club in County Kildare.
.. the finishing touches were added…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. and that was basically it – as you can see…
One of the last pictures taken in the John Jefferson Smurfit Room at the K Club in County Kildare.
.. which in the end looked like this…
The John Jefferson Smurfit Room at the K Club in County Kildare.
.. after the fire had been lit and I had added on the “magnificent Georgian stucco ceiling, complete with ornate plasterwork and a magnificent Waterford Crystal Chandelier”.

Delighted with that – however, we had mentioned in our report, that either 1 or 2 members of staff may work well – so before moving the camera, we gave that a go…
One of the last pictures taken in the John Jefferson Smurfit Room at the K Club in County Kildare.
.. and yes as you can see here…
The John Jefferson Smurfit Room at the K Club in County Kildare.
.. that worked very well too.

So were provided them with the two slightly different variations here – the first of which can now be seen on their website here…
Screen shot of the John Jefferson Smurfit Room on The K Club's website.
.. as this was one which they felt really didn’t need anymore.

And I couldn’t argue with that – because it really didn’t.

Still, as I would often say about all the stuff that we would bring to these type of shoots…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. “It’s better to be looking at it…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. than for it” smile

And so that’s the story behind this image which you can now see on our home page too…
smile
.. as I would say that this was my favourite image from this shoot.

My turn.

Shoot towards the bar…
One of the original pictures taken of the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. or towards the seating area…
One of the original pictures taken of the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. was the big question asked back when we first looked this room, which they call the Media Puzzle Lounge.

Media Puzzle (May 7, 1997 – June 22, 2006), foaled in the United States was an Irish horse best known for his win in the 2002 Melbourne Cup.
Bred by Walter Haefner’s Moyglare Stud Farm and owned by Dr. M. W. Smurfit. He was sired by Theatrical, the 1987 U.S. Champion Male Turf Horse, and out of the mare Market Slide by Gulch, the 1988U.S. Champion Sprint Horse. Media Puzzle is the half brother of Refuse to Bend, a four-time group 1 winning entire by Sadler’s Wells.

Anyway, bright and early the following morning – after having spent quite some time in this room the night before – the team made a start…
One of the first pictures taken in the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. as Ivan prepared himself for another long day…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. which Claudio brilliantly captured on camera…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. as he clearly was up for an early start wink

Seriously though, with Ivan’s help…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. the two of them had all the lights up outside the 3 large windows…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. in no time at all – so now it was starting to look pretty good…
One of the first pictures taken in the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. as they stood in for some test shots…
One of the first pictures taken in the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. as we tried visualise where the people would be in the final image…
One of the first pictures taken in the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. once they all arrived.

Which also gave Claudio plenty of time to take lots of behind the scenes shots..
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. of us all in action…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. doing whatever each of us felt needed to be done…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. including of me…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. which usually just shows me pressing the button every now and then wink

He’s very good at this – but by far the best shot he took was still to come – after the Denise and her husband, Ciarán, arrive…
One of the first pictures taken in the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. and I had given everyone their instructions…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. taken a few quick shots…
One of the last pictures taken in the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. adjusted the lighting…
One of the last pictures taken in the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. and then captured them for real:
One of the last pictures taken in the Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare

Because as good as that was, it wasn’t until Claudio took this image of this absolutely amazing looking guy…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. which Ivan then texted everyone he knew about…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. that I was then able to say, this is the final result…
The Media Puzzle Lounge at the K Club in County Kildare
.. because yes, it was my turn to make an appearance in an image that had been well and truly amped smile

Which just leave me to thank everyone involved, including Denise & Ciarán here, who were about to appear in a few more images before the end of the day – but more on that to follow.

And so that’s the story behind this image that you can now see on their website…

The Byerley Turk.

“Well we did agree at the start, Ivan – so I’m going to finish this beer…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. and then it’s back to work”
wink

Which basically was what it was like – as we just had time for a club sandwich before we needed to set-up for the next shot – which was of the Byerley Turk restaurant here…
One of the first pictures taken in the Byerley Turk at the K Club in County Kildare
.. which they wanted us to capture after the sun had gone down – in other words a late evening shot.

Never an easy one to do, as it can be very hard to visualise how that is actually going to look, until it basically is dark outside.

Which at this time of year and especially on a day like it was today, could mean it would be nearly 10 O’Clock…
One of the first pictures taken in the Byerley Turk at the K Club in County Kildare
.. by which time they would be starting to serve the last orders of the black stuff – so it was time to crack on,
as far as I was concerned smile

According to wikipedia:

The Byerley Turk was a dark brown or black horse of unknown breeding, but described in historic accounts as an Arabian…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. it was the earliest of three stallions that were the founders of the modern Thoroughbred horse racing bloodstock (the other two are the Godolphin Arabian and the Darley Arabian).

So while Dianne worked on the table setting…
One of the first pictures taken in the Byerley Turk at the K Club in County Kildare
.. Ivan and Claudio started working on the lighting…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. before it was time for Claudio’s big moment…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. because yes Claudio…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at the K Club in County Kildare
.. the spot light is now on you wink

And so as night time approached, we were pretty much here…
One of the last pictures taken in the Byerley Turk at the K Club in County Kildare
.. adding a few small pools of light…
One of the last pictures taken in the Byerley Turk at the K Club in County Kildare
.. which when all pieced together – finally ended up looking like this:
The Byerley Turk at the K Club in County Kildare

Which on The K Club’s website now looks like this…
Screen shot showing The Byerley Turk on the K Club's website
.. to let everyone see that Claudio also enjoys “a sumptuous evening dining experience” too wink

A tough one to end the day on – so it was time for a few pints of the black stuff, as I needed to keep everyone’s strength up for the following day – so more to follow, but for now that’s it from the team who just amped The Byerley Turk’s image too smile

May 13, 2017

Pieced together.

Next morning we were back into the Tara Suite…
One of the first pictures taken during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. now that it was free – this time to show it’s full size.

So podium down…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. foreground table in place…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. lights up inside…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. and outside too…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. and then it was time for some steaming…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. pulling…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. and even some pining…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. as we all worked at reducing the creases as much as possible…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. which in the end, after everything was done, looked like so:
The Tara Suite at Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa in County Meath.

Which just left one shot to go – the Drawing Room…
One of the first pictures taken in the Drawing Room at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. set for a private dinner party, in the late evening, being the brief.

Which originally I through we were going to have to wait for once again – but no, it was full steam head…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. as we dismantled it all…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. then ironed not only all the table clothes…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. but also all the chair covers too…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. which made for some very interesting behind the scenes shots…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. before we put it back together again…
One of the first pictures taken in the Drawing Room at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. just as it was before:
One of the first pictures taken in the Drawing Room at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.

Quick shot…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. to confirm that we hadn’t done anything at anyone would notice…
One of the first pictures taken in the Drawing Room at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. which meant it was time to start working on the lighting – which both Claudio…
One of the first pictures taken in the Drawing Room at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. and Ivan here…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. had all under control – included it’s security too, as the hotel was very busy.

Meanwhile, back inside, Dianne & I were on the floor…
Behind the scenes during the shoot at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
.. doing something which obviously must have seem very important at the time smile

Anyway, after the candles and the fire had been lit, the waiter had been positioned, etc, etc – this was the final result…
The Drawing Room at Dunboyne Castle Hotel in County Meath.
.. once it was all pieced together – or amped as we would say – as there is often a lot more put into these image, than anyone (I’m hoping) will ever think or even notice wink

Which just leaves me to say a Big Thanks to everyone who was involved here – especially Rosalie, who was amazingly well organised throughout the shoot – and to all the hotel’s staff too, as it was a real pleasure to work with you all once again – from Dianne, Claudio, Ivan & me @ ampimage.com smile
