Charlotte Hamel’s modern apartment here…
Charlotte Hamel's modern apartment in Dublin's stylish docklands area.
.. in Dublin’s stylish docklands area, was where we were shooting a few months ago.

Started upstairs in the sitting room area…
One of the first pictures taken in the sitting room area of Charlotte Hamel's modern apartment in Dublin.
.. which after a bit of pushing & shoving of furniture around – as well as adding some additional light – ended up looking like this…
The sitting room in Charlotte Hamel's modern apartment in Dublin's stylish docklands area.
.. after about an hour.

So a bit of a slow start on the first one – but once we had that done, then we were able to produce a number of detail shots like is…
The Eiffel Tower window display in the sitting room in Charlotte Hamel's modern apartment in Dublin's stylish docklands area.
.. of the Eiffel Tower window display – which clearly told us all were Charlotte was originally from Smile

Very creative and beautiful too…
Charlotte Hamel in the sitting room of her modern apartment in Dublin's stylish docklands area.
.. so after a slow start, we were now on a roll.

The kitchen was small, as one would half expect in a city apartment – so it didn’t take Marie long to sort it all out…
One of the first pictures taken in the kitchen of Charlotte Hamel's modern apartment in Dublin.
.. and after it was lit, this was the result…

.. which was followed by the main living & dining area in the apartment – which was at this stage, as you can see here…

.. in a bit of a mess due mainly to us wink

Anyway, once again Marie wasn’t long in sorting it all out…

.. and the end result…

.. I thought looked pretty amazing – ‘wow’ in fact.

Which just left the bathroom and this bedroom to shoot…

.. which once again didn’t take that long to do, once it had been lit…

.. and styled for the camera.

So a wee touch of France in Ireland is how I viewed this one – it was lovely – and so it came as no great surprise to see it being featured in the latest issue of 25 Beautiful Homes magazine this month…
Pages 66 to 69 in the October 2015 issue of 25 Beautiful Homes magazine - featuring Charlotte Hamel's modern apartment in Dublin's stylish docklands area.
.. on pages 66 to 69 – which I talked about here: Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow and double Wow.

So just want to say a big thanks to Charlotte here for inviting us in – and yes we would both totally agree with you when you emailed us later to say:

OMG! It is stunning!

– because it is, thanks mainly to you and your creative flair smile

Livin’ in a box

From Cape Cod it was over to Boston the following morning – and after spending 2 hours driving around in circles, we finally arrived in more ways than one – as this was David Hacin’s, an award-winning architect, Laconia Lofts project we were about to shoot.

Wow – what a space…
David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. which required almost no additional light to capture…
David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. and what a view too…
View from David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. of the Boston cityscape towards Back Bay.

Laconia Lofts is an award-winning Boston loft apartment with an open plan kitchen, living and dining area, guest suite with bathroom, master bedroom and bathroom and study areas. There’s also an open plan lounge zone which overlooks the lower level – located in the heart of the burgeoning South End arts district, which people are now calling the SoWa area – as in South of Washington (an analogy of SoHo in New York) – which is just bursting with energy, thanks to the many art galleries, shops, restaurants, and parks in the immediate area.

Sitting up to perfection too – so beside Marie having to move his phone out of the way…
Marie setting up the kitchen shot in David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. and add a few books for the camera…
Marie setting up the kitchen shot in David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. we had little to do here…
David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. besides point and shoot…
David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. and shoot…
David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. and shoot.

‘Boxes within Boxes’ is how David’s partner decided it…
David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. but there was more to it than simple boxes – as there was also some very clever ideas used here to divide the place up and control the light – like in this bedroom for example…
Bedroom in David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. which I just loved.

The panels of the pivoting wall mean you can lie in bed and enjoy the starry sky at night. Swivel them back at dawn for privacy.

A masterpiece in more ways than one…
Painting in David Hacin's Laconia Lofts project in Boston.
.. and therefore no great surprise to see Bruce Willis walking through it at the start of the movie Surrogates, which was filmed in Boston around 2009.

Or that it was featured by 25 Beautiful Homes magazine…
Pages 82 to 85 in the September 2007 issue of 25 Beautiful Homes magazine featuring David Hacin and Tim Grafft's Laconia Lofts project apartment in Boston.
.. on pages 82 to 85 in their in the September 2007 issue – or in Templeton Robinson’s Property Life magazine…
Pages 12 to 15 in issue 4 of Templeton Robinson's Property Life magazine featuring David Hacin and Tim Grafft's 'Laconia Lofts' project apartment in Boston.
.. on pages 12 to 15 in their 4th issue – as well as some of the images being used by Epson for very large ‘point of sale’ exhibition display prints.

Sure wouldn’t mind livin’ in a box like this – so just like to say a big thank you to David & his partner for inviting us in, and giving us this opportunity to capture their box – from Marie & me @ ampimage.com

New Beginnings.

Is the title of our latest published work in the February 2014 issue of Ireland’s Homes Interiors & Living magazine…
Pages 96 to 106 in the February 2014 issue of Ireland's Homes Interiors & Living magazine featuring Rosanne Irwin's ground floor apartment in the Malone area of Belfast.
.. on pages 96 to 106 – featuring Rosanne’s ground floor apartment in the Malone area of Belfast.

“Rosanne’s two-bedroom ground floor apartment in a ‘Victorian gentleman’s residence’ in Belfast is a beautiful elegant period property which has been decorated with stunning pieces which befit this home.”

Which we talked about shooting here: Bring more to the table.

I really do love those big double page spreads, as it just shows the huge amount of work that goes into each and every one of these images…
Rosanne Irwin in the sitting room of her ground floor apartment in a Victorian townhouse in the Malone area of Belfast.
.. and it’s not just at our end but at the homeowner’s end too – as you really do feel like you are actually standing there in the room.

So a great beginning to the start of a New Year, for Marie, Mandi & me – and without a doubt, a lovely thing for Rosanne to have, to look back on in years to come.

Stylish Living.

Is the title of our latest published work in the April 2013 issue of Ireland’s Homes Interiors & Living magazine…
Pages 82 to 95 in the April 2013 issue of Ireland's Homes Interiors & Living magazine featuring Jane McKenna's penthouse appartment in south Belfast on the banks of the river Lagan.
.. on pages 82 to 95 – featuring Jane McKenna’s penthouse appartment in south Belfast on the banks of the river Lagan.

“The owner of this penthouse apartment turned a day-dream into reality when Anne bought this beautiful water-fornt home in south Belfast. Working in Belfast she’d often spent lunch hours walking by the banks of the river Lagan nearby, an integral part of city life in this area.”

So way to go Anne, for not only making your dream come true here…
The living room in Jane McKenna's penthouse appartment on the south Belfast banks of the river Lagan.
.. but for also making it into this beautifully printed magazine as well.

Because that now makes it three – as the 1st was in the August 2007 issue of BBC Good Homes magazine…
Pages 64 to 69 in the August 2007 issue of BBC Good Homes magazine featuring Jane McKenna's penthouse appartment on the banks of the river Lagan in Belfast.

Rue Alberti

Shooting an apartment today near the Promenade in Nice…
Setting up the shot
.. called Rue Alberti
The main living area designed by Liz Gibney interiors in the Alberti apartment near the Promenade in Nice.
.. which is the first of a few assignments we are covering for Liz Gibney
Setting up the bedroom shot
.. whose interior design work you can see here…
One of the bedrooms in Rue Alberti
.. throughout this stunning apartment.

Interesting to look back at Marie’s comments to Liz about this shoot beforehand…

You did a really gorgeous job on that Alberti apartment – I think it’s perfectly styled as is Liz – honestly !! I can see why bookings are so good – well done you !! It’s not the style of place you want to “overload” for the camera at all I reckon. It’s always good to have some extra props to hand just in case they’re needed but compared to what we often shoot, this is sitting up beautifully. Ok, we will need to move the TV etc but of all the shots on this trip, I reckon those 2 images will probably be the most straightforward. We don’t have a problem working around cleaners and have done it many a time !!! Between us all, I think we should be able to get 2 lovely shots within that time slot.

.. as we actually managed to produce 4 lovely shots in the end.

Anyway, more to follow over the next few days – but of to a good start, as this was indeed very Nice 🙂

From Marie & me at the end of our first day, in this beautiful part of France.
