Field of Dreams.

Is the title of our latest published work in the February 2013 issue of Ireland’s Homes Interiors & Living magazine…
The cover plus pages 90 to 101 in the February 2013 issue of Ireland's Homes Interiors & Living magazine featuring Sonya and Glenn McDowell's century-old cottage near the seaside town of Donaghadee in County Down.
.. on pages 90 to 101, plus on the cover too – featuring Sonya and Glenn McDowell’s century-old cottage near the seaside town of Donaghadee in County Down.

“Sonya and Glen bought a century-old cottage in a rural idyll near the seaside town of Donaghadee, County Down – but ended up living in it’s barn and stables.”

Which we talked about shooting here: Escape to the Country.

I loved this place and I loved how it had been styled & decorated too – so yes for me, this was a dream home sitting in the green fields of Ireland.

Anyway, a huge thanks to everyone involved for their hard work here – and a huge congratulations to Glen and Sonya here…

.. especially for making it onto the cover too, of this beautifully printed Irish magazine.

From 60’s groovy…

.. to classic simplicity.

Just before the end of last year, I shot Marie’s recently renovated 60’s house for a Christmas magazine feature, in one of the national publications. So at the start of the year, we decided to shoot a few of the other rooms for smaller features on ‘How to create the look’ – to show readers what can be done.

The en suite in her master bedroom was perfect for this – so we kicked of the New Year by shooting it.

I’ve got to say, I smiled when Marie first showed me around the house, because I knew that groovy yellow bathroom suite…

.. with those tiles, would be the first things to go 🙂

Having said that, it was interesting to note that she didn’t actually need to change the layout…

.. making it therefore quite cost effective – and I personally like the fact that it’s very simple and not too girly too…

However, if there’s one thing I’ve learned for shooting homes, is that everyone has their own taste & style – so beauty is very much ‘in the eye of the beholder’ – and that’s what makes our job so interesting.

Anyway, once again, I loved what Marie did here…

.. and think it will make for a very interesting feature – so all now that is left to do, is find a buyer to help kick off the New Year in style.

More to follow… but in the meantime, I’d just like to say, a very Happy New Year to everyone.
